In a move to regulate a key sector and improve the urban experience, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has rolled out new requirements for transport rental offices and vehicle shelters across Saudi Arabia. The initiative is part of a broader strategic effort to stimulate investment and elevate the quality of life in Saudi cities.

The new guidelines apply to facilities designated for land, sea, and air transport rentals, including rental offices and shelters, according to a Saudi Press Agency report. These requirements were developed in line with international best practices and in collaboration with relevant authorities, ensuring a balance between investor interests and beneficiary rights.

The comprehensive framework addresses several planning, architectural, technical, and operational elements. Among the key components are precise regulations for activity zones, architectural design criteria, facade treatments, designated parking requirements, and standards for public safety, cleanliness, and maintenance.

Importantly, the guidelines also emphasise accessibility for people with disabilities and strict compliance with the Saudi Building Code, the Fire Protection Code, and other related regulations.

The updates also introduce modern features such as electronic payment systems, surveillance camera installations, and clear internal signage. The ministry highlighted that these changes will pave the way for substantial investment opportunities, enabling businesses to align with Saudi Arabia’s evolving infrastructure goals. Improved service quality, heightened market competitiveness, and a better experience for end users are among the expected benefits, reinforcing the local economy.
