    Air India Ahmedabad-London flight crashes shortly after take-off in Gujarat

    Air India Ahmedabad-London flight crashes

    An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon.

    The aircraft, bound for London, plunged into the Meghani area of Ahmedabad city in the Indian state of Gujarat, sending up a massive plume of black smoke and triggering an immediate emergency response.

    According to a Times of India report, the aircraft was carrying 242 people onboard, including 230 passengers, 10 crew and 2 pilots. There’s no news about casualties released yet.

    Air India crash confirmed by Tata Group

    The crash has since been confirmed by owners of the carrier, Tata Group,  on social media platform, X.

    Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu expressed shock over the accident.

    The minister posted on X, saying: “Shocked and devastated to learn about the flight crash in Ahmedabad. We are on the highest alert. I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action.”
