The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) in UAE has announced a sweeping set of amendments and additions to the UAE’s entry visa regulations, according to a WAM report.
The updated rules introduce four new visit visa categories aimed at specialists in artificial intelligence, entertainment, events, cruise ships, and leisure boating, signaling the country’s focus on attracting sector-specific talent and professionals.

A new humanitarian residence permit has been launched, valid for one year and extendable based on specific conditions and at the authority’s discretion.
Additionally, widows and divorcees of foreign nationals are now eligible for a one-year residence permit, which may be renewed for a similar duration subject to defined criteria.
The revised regulations also allow residents to sponsor friends or relatives up to the third degree under a visit visa, with eligibility determined by the sponsor’s income level.
Business and labour visas get a boost
The business exploration visa now requires proof of financial solvency, ownership of a stake in an overseas company, or documented professional practice. Truck drivers must now have a sponsor and fulfill health and financial guarantee requirements.
The regulations also provide structured schedules outlining the permitted stay durations for each visa type, along with clear guidelines for renewals and extensions.
