The Saudi General Authority of Foreign Trade (GAFT) has launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of ductile iron pipes originating from or exported by India. The probe covers cast iron pipes and hollow tubes with diameters ranging from 100mm to 1,000mm, specifically of the K9 and C40 classes.

This action is in line with Article 4.1 of the Law of Trade Remedies in International Trade, issued on November 23, 2022. According to the article, “the authority is responsible for trade remedies including conducting investigations, reviews, and the imposition of measures in accordance with the Kingdom’s international commitments, especially under the Anti-Dumping Agreement, the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, and the Agreement on Safeguards.”

The investigation reflects Saudi’s efforts to protect its domestic industry from unfair trade practices. Since the trade remedies law came into effect, GAFT has conducted multiple investigations across various industrial sectors to address concerns over dumped or subsidised imports, curb surges in import volumes, and safeguard Saudi exports involved in foreign trade remedy cases.

GAFT noted that full details and updates on the ongoing investigations are available on its official website (www.gaft.gov.sa), under the sections “Notices and Circulars of Trade Remedies Investigations” and “Details of Ongoing Investigations and Reviews.”
